NBCC’s Agriculture Technology: Greenhouse Technician microcredential combines hands-on training with practical theory, helping you understand the structural components and functions of greenhouses.

This program was developed with industry input and consultation with Indigenous communities to address the unique needs and priorities of local food security and reclamation initiatives.

Who It's For: Individuals interested in greenhouse operations, sustainable food systems, and community-driven agriculture.

What You'll Learn: Practical skills in plant propagation, irrigation design, pest and nutrient management, safety, and proper plant care. Insights into operational greenhouse logistics and informed business decision-making.

Career Outcomes: Prepare for roles like Greenhouse Manager, Greenhouse Technician, Head Grower, or Food Security Coordinator.

What's The Cost: For a limited time, tuition is funded by Upskill Canada, powered by Palette Skills, and the Government of Canada, so you’ll only need to pay a small program fee of $200 once accepted.

Program Structure

  • 60 hours (to be completed within 8 weeks of start date)
  • Online + In-person
    • Modules 1 and 3 are available online
    • Module 2 takes place in your community at an operational greenhouse

Certification

When you complete the Greenhouse Technician microcredential you’ll earn a digital badge as proof of your achievement. You can share this badge on your resume, LinkedIn profile, e-portfolio, or other digital platforms. Employers will be able to see your skills and know exactly what you’ve learned, as the badge highlights your proven abilities.


Admission Requirements

  • Minimum 16 years of age (completion of Grade 10)
  • At least three years of work or volunteer experience in any sector, which can be non-consecutive and completed in Canada or abroad
  • Physically able to stand for at least three hours and lift up to 15 kg
  • An interest in plant propagation, care, and learning basic business skills for greenhouse operations
  • Proficiency in English (see 大象视频English Language Requirements).

Required Materials

You’ll need to access a computer with high-speed internet for online learning. In-person components will require transportation to and from a greenhouse facility.
